About Sustainable Futures: Sustainable Futures™ is a voluntary EPA initiative that aims to promote the incorporation of Pollution Prevention methods into chemical stewardship. By participating in this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to use a variety of sophisticated, computer-based models and techniques to estimate potential hazards of and exposures to chemical substances, as well as how to combine these into screening-level risk assessments for the subject chemicals. The workshop includes both in-depth presentations and hands-on sessions with the models; and, it covers the methodology for hazard and risk screening for human health, ecotoxicity and environmental fate. Upon completion of this workshop you will understand how OPPT evaluates both new and existing chemicals in the absence of test data and how to perform evaluations in a similar manner, thus allowing you to anticipate regulatory actions and to prioritize chemicals based on their potential hazards and risks. In addition, companies that achieve graduate status can qualify for regulatory relief under the New Chemicals Program and gain the ability to begin manufacture of qualifying substances following a 45-day review rather than the typical 90-day review. This Sustainable Futures™ workshop is the first step toward successful participation in this innovative program. Please forward this announcement to any colleagues that may be interested in this training workshop or in the Sustainable Futures™ program in general.
Sustainable Futures Presentation Material: During the workshop we will provide participants with a binder containing SF training documents and a CD of all the SF material and Powerpoint presentations.
