Course Overview
TSCA Essentials is designed to provide students with valuable information regarding chemical regulatory programs administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). This one-day course is introductory and assumes no prior knowledge of the subject matter on the part of attendees. Thus, it will enable those who are brand new to TSCA to quickly get up-to-speed regarding the major requirements of this far-reaching regulatory program. However, it will also serve as an excellent refresher for those who already have some experience working with TSCA. At the conclusion of the course, students should be able:
- to recognize when a particular business situation has potential TSCA implications;
- to identify TSCA requirements that apply to their employers’ or their clients’ operations;
- to determine what actions are required to comply with those requirements; and
- to know where to look for additional information or clarification on applicable regulatory provisions.
This course will provide an overview of TSCA Requirements, with an emphasis on premanufacture notification requirements for new chemical substances under TSCA Section 5. But, it will not detail each step in the process of preparing a Premanufacture Notice (PMN) and shepherding it through EPA's review.
